PASS YOUNG DEMOCRATS ENDORSEMENT POLICY Preservation copy of the policy publicly posted at passyoungdems.org/endorsement-policy/ on September 15, 2026. Endorsements are overseen by the PYD Steering Committee and ultimately confirmed by a vote of the membership. As PYD membership is based in Riverside County, PYD does not consider endorsements in elections elsewhere unless the Steering Committee determines that special circumstances warrant consideration. A request to endorse a candidate or ballot measure may be submitted at any time. The Steering Committee may also contact campaigns in elections it considers important. When PYD decides to consider an endorsement, each Democratic candidate or representative of a ballot measure has an opportunity to complete a detailed questionnaire. Candidates for local, state, and congressional offices must sign the Pass Progress Candidate Pledge to be considered. All endorsements must be approved by a membership vote. Recommendations from the Steering Committee are placed on the consent calendar. An endorsement can be removed from the consent calendar if 15 percent of voting members present vote to remove it. Only dues-paying members who have been members for at least four days before the vote may vote on an endorsement. The adopted PYD bylaws contain additional membership and endorsement rules and should be read with this policy.
