Current adopted policy
The process in plain language
Where PYD endorses
The policy generally focuses on Riverside County elections. The Steering Committee may consider an election elsewhere when it finds special circumstances.
How review starts
A candidate, ballot-measure campaign, member, or community group may submit a request. PYD may also contact campaigns in elections it considers important.
What PYD reviews
The process may include a questionnaire and the Pass Progress Candidate Pledge. Candidates for covered offices must sign the pledge to be considered.
How approval works
The Steering Committee makes recommendations, and the membership approves final endorsements. Recommendations may be placed on a consent calendar.
Voting requirements
Read both adopted documents.
The posted endorsement policy says voters must be dues-paying members at least four days before the vote. The bylaws also require completed membership paperwork, required dues, and attendance at a prior general meeting for good standing.
The two documents also describe different thresholds for removing an item from the consent calendar. PYD should state the rule it will use in each vote notice until the adopted documents are formally aligned.
